Colorado has no law that gives drivers a zero-deductible glass benefit. A broken windshield is paid under comprehensive coverage, and your deductible applies unless your policy adds full glass. If the replacement costs $450 and your deductible is $500, paying cash is usually simpler. We help with the claim either way, from the photos and part number to the call with your insurer. If your policy has full glass, we bill the insurer directly and you pay nothing at the door. If it does not, we quote OEM and OEM-equivalent glass side by side, since both meet the same FMVSS 205 standard and the OEE part often saves real money on an older Fruita commuter car.
C.R.S. 42-4-201 says a driver's view through required glass has to be normal and unobstructed, but it sets no crack size. In practice, a crack across the driver's primary viewing area is a fair reason for an officer to stop you, and it is also where a repair can leave a slight distortion, so we usually replace instead. Cracks also weaken the windshield's job in a crash. FMVSS 212 requires the glass to stay in place in a 30 mph barrier test, and many passenger airbags push against the windshield when they deploy, so a sound bond matters as much as clear glass.
Fruita counted 13,395 people in the 2020 census, and the Census Bureau estimated 13,912 by July 2024, so our Fruita days stay busy. We schedule Monday through Friday from 8am to 5:30pm, with Saturdays by appointment. After a replacement, we tell you the safe drive-away time for the urethane we used before you leave. Down the road on US 6, we also replace windshields in Loma and out toward Mack.
